In light of the recent decision regarding same-sex marriage at the Supreme Court, a homosexual man has filed suit against Zondervan and Thomas Nelson Publishers claiming that the Bibles published by both agencies have violated his constitutional rights and caused him “emotional distress.” I dare say that the “emotional distress” he feels is nothing less than Holy Spirit conviction of sin!
Regardless, this action is nothing short of suing God! I wonder what attorney (s) has (have) agreed to take on this litigation? The bottom line is this! Actions like this will become more commonplace as the abomination called same-sex marriage is normalized! For this reason, we, who name the name of Christ, especially preachers, MUST be crystal clear as to what God has to say about this, and all, sin!
It is imperative that we be fearless as we step into a world that increasingly rejects, not only truth, but the Author of Truth! “Let us go forth therefore unto Him without the camp bearing His reproach” (Hebrews 13:13). Unless we are courageously committed to bear the reproach borne by our Savior, we WILL capitulate! Unless we know Whose we are, and for Whom we live, we will acquiesce!
This past week has been a busy, but stellar, one for me, as I’ve rubbed elbows with some of God’s finest servants! ALL, without exception, have been committed to a clear and courageous stance with regard to God’s truth! I praise God for these, my friends (some old, some new) who have demonstrated with lip and life that they are willing and ready to live, and die, for Jesus! It is this exact dedication that must become the commitment of ALL disciples of Jesus Christ!
So, with the word in hand, and the Spirit to empower, may we move aggressively forward knowing that the victory is ultimately ours! And, because of what God is currently doing in awakening His church (not everywhere), we may well see one more/last awakening prior to the return of our Savior! Whether we do, or don’t, ours is but to obey!
